1- Depart home
You will depart as a group and fly to China.
2- Arrival into Beijing
in Beijing in the later afternoon or evening, where your Program Manager will
welcome you outside the baggage claim at PEK international airport. You will drive to your hotel and have a late welcome
3- Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City
Enjoy a breakfast buffet every morning in
your hotel. After breakfast, you will visit Tiananmen Square, a site of several
important events in Chinese history, and the Forbidden City, the vast Chinese
imperial palace dating from the Ming Dynasty.
After lunch, you will have the visit the extensive
art and history exhibits of the National Museum of China, also located on
Tiananmen Square. Later, you will enjoy a
delicious traditional Chinese dinner.
4- The Great Wall and Art Zone
You will spend the day at the Mutianyu
section of the Great Wall.
In the evening, you will return to Beijing to
visit the 798 Art Zone, an area of Beijing known for its public art
installations, and try a traditional hotpot dinner.
5- The Temple of Heaven & The Summer Palace
In the morning, you will visit the Temple of
Heaven, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered to be one of
the most important Daoism sites in the world. You will also visit the
Summer Palace, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Declared as a “masterpiece
of Chinese landscape garden design”, the Summer Palace is a beautiful
recreational park famous for its lake views.
In the evening, you will have a chance to
explore the trendy NanLuoGu Alley, famous for its cafes, restaurants, and
Day 6- Beijing
After breakfast, you will transfer to
Shanghai and check into your hotel.
In the afternoon, you will have the chance to
explore centuries of Chinese arts and crafts –priceless works of bronze,
marble, ceramics, calligraphy, etc. – in the Shanghai Museum.
In the evening, you will visit People's
Square, bustling Nanjing Road, and famous glittering skyline views from the
Bund, Shanghai’s historic area.
Day 7- Shanghai & Pudong
Today you will visit the Poster Propaganda
Art Centre for a glimpse into life during the Cultural Revolution. Then, ride
up to the top of the 101-story World Financial Center Tower in the Pudong
district for breathtaking views of the city.
Enjoy some free time this evening in
Day 8- Shanghai - Lijiang
After breakfast in your hotel, drive to the
airport for your flight to Lijiang, located in the Western province of Yunnan,
in the foothills of the Himalayas. After checking into your hotel, you will
have a guided walk through Lijiang’s old town, a maze of narrow, cobblestoned
alleys and canals, lined with interesting shops and cafes.
Day 9- Baisha
Today you will hop on bikes and take a
leisurely ride to Baisha ancient village, the center of silk embroidery in
Southwest China. After visiting an
embroidery workshop, you will have time for lunch and shopping.
After returning to Lijiang by bike, you will
have some free time in the evening to further explore Lijiang’s quaint streets.
Day 10- Naxi
Culture in Lijiang
In the morning, you will visit the Mu Family
Mansion, the renovated home of a chieftain of the Naxi people, and the
mansion’s beautiful grounds.
In the afternoon, you will tour the Naxi
Dongba Culture Museum to learn more about the Naxi way of life, followed by a
traditional Naxi dinner in the evening.
Day 11- Lijiang – Dali
After breakfast, you will transfer by bus to
Dali. Once you have settled into your
hotel there will be a walking tour of the old city of Dali. In the evening, you can explore Dali’s old
town on your own, enjoying a nighttime stroll along its famous Foreigner
Day 12- Dali
In the morning, you will take a cable car up
to the Cang Mountains for a bird's eye view of Dali as well as Lake Erhai. Hike
around its peaks and explore several Taoist monasteries and temples that are
located on the top of the mountain.
After lunch, you will bike around Erhai Lake.
In the evening, you will board an overnight train bound for Kunming, the
capital of Yunnan Province.
Day 13- Kunming
After an early morning check in to your
accommodations, you will have a short orientation walking tour of the city and a
visit to Green Lake Park and the lively Bird & Flower Market, a bustling market
selling exotic items like flowers, pets, typical ethnic costumes from Yunnan,
jade jewelry, and Chinese antiques.
In the evening, after dinner, you will have a chance to meet
up with some local Chinese students.
Day 14- Kunming
In the morning, you will take a ride in a gondola up to the Western
Hills and hike around the temples built high into the face of the cliff,
overlooking Lake Dian far below.
In the evening, you will enjoy a farewell dinner of typical Yunnan
cuisine and a performance of Dynamic Yunnan, a folk dance and song performance
which showcases the richness of Yunnan's cultural diversity, fusing traditional
and modern techniques.
Day 15- Departure, Return Flights
