  • Daily Itinerary

    Day 1

    You'll depart on your overnight flight to Barcelona.

    Day 2

    You will meet your tour manager at the airport.

    Your bus will pick you up from the airport and transport you to your accommodations, Casa Gracia. If your room is not ready, you can leave your bags.

    You'll arrive at your hostel and leave your luggage in storage. If your rooms are ready, you'll check in.

    You will have time to get settled and then have lunch (not included).

    After lunch you will take a guided walking tour of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona and see the medieval and Roman remnants in the city as well as visit gothic churches and squares in the neighborhood.

    You'll explore the crooked staircases and curved walls of the Casa Mila designed by Antonio Guadi. The highlights include the Pedrera apartments with furniture designed by the architect and the uniquely arched roof.

    You'll have a Welcome dinner at Tapa Tapa.

    Tonight you will have a free evening to explore Barcelona.

    Day 3

    You'll have breakfast.

    This morning you will meet with an Athletic Trainer (physiologist) who will speak about the role of a physiologist in various capacities. You will compare and contrast how the field differs in Spain and the United States as well as have the opportunity to ask questions. (Pending)

    You will take a break for lunch (not included).

    This afternoon and evening you'll have time to walk down Barcelona's most lively street, Las Ramblas. Filled with street performers and locals, the street is the artistic and cultural heart of the city and ends at the entertainment center, the Barcelona pier where you'll have time to shop and enjoy views of the Mediterranean.

    You'll have dinner on your own (not included).

    Day 4

    You'll have breakfast.

    Today you will have a free day. You can explore Barcelona on your own or take a day trip to Madrid to participate in the Carnaval festivities.

    Day 5

    You'll have breakfast.

    This morning you'll visit the Gaudi masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia. Started in 1882, the gothic inspired church is still under construction yet the world heritage site still stands as one of the most unique churches in the world.

    Next you will visit Parc Güell, another Gaudí masterpiece. This is Barcelona's most unusual and famous public park which was originally planned as a place to enjoy nature within a housing development. While the development did not happen, the park remains with its hidden sculptures, monuments and fascinating structures throughout. You'll have plenty of time to spend exploring the enchanting park.

    You will take a break for lunch (not included).

    This afternoon you will visit the FC Barcelona Museum and then take a tour of the FC Barcelona Stadium, Camp Nou (New Field in English). Completed in 1957, it is the largest stadium in Spain with a seating capacity of 99,354. You will have the opportunity to tour the most emblematic areas of the stadium.

    This evening you will attend a professional soccer game (based on availability).

    Day 6

    You'll have breakfast.

    Today you will volunteer with students at a local school (pending).

    You will take a break for lunch (not included).

    You'll have dinner on your own (not included).

    This evening you will get to experience the fire of Flamenco! Native instructors will guide you through a beginner class in Flamenco, the most famous style of dance and music in Spain.

    Day 7

    You'll have breakfast.

    You'll board your bus and depart for the day.

    Today you will take a day trip to visit Girona and explore the network of narrow streets that includes relics form each era including Renaissance churches,medieval baths and one of the most well preserved Jewish quarters in Spain.

    You'll visit the Dalí Theatre-Museum in the former Municipal Theatre of Figueres. The museum is considered to be the last great work of Salvador Dalí as it was conceptualized and designed by the artist. The museum's collection is the largest and most diverse in the world taken directly from the artist's personal collection. You'll see a broad spectrum of work from early childhood and Dali's first artistic experiences, surrealism, nuclear mysticism and his passion for science through to the works of the last part of his life.

    You'll board your bus and begin the return trip to Barcelona.

    You'll have dinner on your own (not included).

    Day 8

    You'll have breakfast.

    This morning you will visit the Picasso Museum and see early sketches and paintings of the master from his formative years spent as an artist apprentice in Barcelona as well as commissioned portraits, sculptures and cubist masterpieces.

    You will take a break for lunch (not included).

    After lunch you will visit the Barceloneta neighborhood. A maritime residential neighborhood built in the 18th century, "little Barcelona" features miles of sandy beaches, relaxing cafes, world famous sculptures and a boardwalk full of interesting food and sights.

    You'll have dinner as a group (not included).

    After dinner you will enjoy a lively flamenco show.

    Day 9

    You'll have breakfast.

    After breakfast you will head to the airport for your return trip home.
