Explore Fashion in Florence

A Creative Journey for High School Students

Fashions of Florence is a hands-on learning experience designed to give high school students a
deeper understanding of fashion while living in one of the world’s most beautiful and inspiring
cities. This two-week pre-college program, hosted by Polimoda in Florence, Italy, brings together
students from around the world to study fashion design, branding, business, and sustainability
through expert-led courses and real-world site visits.

Students complete 40 hours of college-level coursework taught by Polimoda professors and
industry professionals. The program covers both the creative and business sides of fashion,
helping students discover where their interests align. At the end of the program, each student
presents a final project, with support and feedback from peers and instructors. Many students
use this work to build their portfolios or include it in college applications.

Classes take place at Polimoda’s Renaissance campus and the modern design labs at
Manifattura Tabacchi. Outside of the classroom, students explore Florence’s historic city center
through guided tours and organized visits to places like the Gucci Garden, Palazzo Pitti,
Salvatore Ferragamo Museum, and local artisan workshops. These outings are designed to
inspire and give students a deeper understanding of how fashion connects to culture, history,
and innovation.

Students are supported throughout their stay by a Resident Advisor and Program Director, who
are available 24/7 for any questions, support, or emergencies. They stay in a modern student
hotel, The Social Hub Lavagnini, which features study spaces, a rooftop pool, gym, and
restaurant. Days are full but balanced with structured free time for shopping, rest, or exploring
the city in small groups.

Beyond the academics, one of the most meaningful parts of the experience is the friendships
formed during the program. Most students arrive not knowing anyone, but within days they’re
bonding over shared interests, working together in class, and discovering Florence as a group.
These friendships often last well beyond the summer. Some students continue to support each
other online, while others even reconnect in other cities and countries.
