Upon arrival in Richmond, you'll meet your Tour Manager and head to your first stop. The American Civil War Museum at Historic Tredegar is the nation's first museum to interpret the Civil War from Union, Confederate, and African American perspectives. You’ll discover a new way of looking at national history that explains much of who we are as Americans today through the signature exhibit, In the Cause of Liberty.
Called "America's Shakespeare," Edgar Allan Poe created or mastered the short story, detective fiction, science fiction, lyric poetry and the horror story. His dark genius has invited children and adults to read and love literature for over 150 years. At Richmond's Poe Museum, opened in 1922, you'll see the world's finest collection of Edgar Allan Poe's manuscripts, letters, first editions, memorabilia and personal belongings. The Poe Museum provides a retreat into early nineteenth century Richmond where Poe lived and worked. The museum features the life and career of Edgar Allan Poe by documenting his accomplishments with pictures, relics, and verse, and focusing on his many years in Richmond.
Next, you'll take a guided tour of Yorktown Victory Center, a museum of the American Revolution that chronicles America's evolution from colonial status to nationhood through a unique blend of thematic exhibits and outdoor living history.
This morning y ou'll visit Historic Jamestowne, an archaeological site and the actual site of the original colony.
Next, you'll take a guided tour of Jamestown Settlement, where the story of the people who founded Jamestown and of the Virginia Indians they encountered is told through film, gallery exhibits, and living history.
You'll then take a three hour guided tour of Colonial Williamsburg. Here you’ll see the restored and reconstructed historic area of a small city that was founded in 1632, designated capital of the English colony in 1698 and was eventually a center of political activity during the American Revolution. Costumed guides will take you through the center of town and you’ll have a chance to experience colonial life. You'll also have the opportunity to visit the Governor's Palace and Museums.
This evening you'll take a walking ghost tour, where your guide will lead you through the streets of Colonial Williamsburg by candlelight while sharing eerie and fun folklore of this very old city.
Today you'll spend the day experiencing the adreneline at Busch Gardens.
This evening you will board your bus for your overnight trip home.
