When I Joined ETA & What I Love About Working Here

I started with a baby in tow in 2007 working just a couple hours in the then called headquarters. What I like the most about working for ETA is seeing the company and our growing team evolve.

Professional Background

In Finance we primarily take care of Account Payable, every dollar going out is accounted for and together we make an awesome team of smart, detail-oriented, fun, life-loving, active people! Over the years I’ve personally become QuickBooks (R) certified and completed several personal and financial business trainings and other business coaching programs. Any knowledge I acquire along the way, I happily implement in ETA.

Fun Facts About Suzanne

Interesting Facts
As a teen, I moved to the opposite side of the world, from the Netherlands to the Caribbean! This experience taught me the strength of being able to adapt, and led me from college abroad to landing an internship in NYC.

Favorite Place Traveled:
Australia, because the people “down under” are laid back and have a good sense of humor! Besides the Aussies and adorable koalas, this country offers an immensely unique blend of landscapes, gorgeous beaches, diverse wildlife, culture and lukewarm coffee (not my favorite) reason: to preserve the natural sweetness of milk.

Favorite subject to study in school:
Hmmm, I was pretty indifferent about school subjects, none I loved, none I have disliked, but German in the Caribbean was interesting, there were only 3 other students in the class. One day I skipped an exam, added benefit the teacher decided to delay it for all.

Most Recent Passport Stamp:
Zanzibar.

Most unexpected moment while traveling:
One summer we took a boat from Lombok to Gilli Trawangan and decided last-minute to stay overnight. The floor of the “hotel” we picked was under construction, all open air, stairs with no handrails, floors in scaffolding, rooms half done, we were given the few that were “newly built”… as I was brushing my teeth, I felt my feet get wet! Turned out the pipes weren’t attached, but so much more was missing in that one room!

Window seat or aisle seat?
No preference, flying anywhere is a perk!

Dream destination (not yet visited):
Taj Mahal, it is the epitome of immense love!

Go-to travel snack:
Any Barbell protein bar, no mess, quick high protein, low sugar snack.

One thing I hope students gain from traveling:
Aside from the history and culture they will experience, I think there is so much more to be gained from traveling! It pushes them to adapt, be patient and compassionate, and most of all laugh and enjoy the freedoms and companionship of travel. I hope their experience is full and most importantly-fun!
