Why Educators Love Working with Carrie

Educators appreciate Carrie’s expertise, responsiveness, and thoughtful guidance throughout every step of the planning process. Here’s what they have to say.

Just got back from London England. This is my fifth trip with ETAdventures. As a film and drama teacher I have taken students to LA twice and New York twice. These trips have been amazing and a memory the students will have for a lifetime. It has been great working with Carrie and others planning these trips. ETA has been so willing to personalize these trips for us and the guides on the trips have been so knowledgeable, great with the students and fun to hang out with. I highly recommend this company

Drama and Media Arts Teacher

We have been using ETA to take our middle school students to NYC for years! The trips are amazing and very well-planned, and I’ve always felt supported throughout the planning process. Our agent, Carrie, has been so patient with me through the tons of questions I always have, and works super hard to make sure the travelers have the best trip possible. ETA has great payment options, great itineraries, and is overall a great Travel Company!

Savanna G.

Middle School Theatre Teacher

Our recent trip to London with ETA was awesome! The students enjoyed a varied and diverse set of experiences tailored to their interests, such as visiting many west end plays and productions, going to the National Gallery and Tate modern. Outside of these experiences, students got to explore various markets with their friends and also go on a Graffiti tour while learning a lot of important history too.

Carrie Fraus made the experience excellent through a very personalized, insightful and planned approach. She made all of our requests happen and was a great source of knowledge to confidently get us around London every day. Thank you ETA!

Carrie at ETAdventures is an absolute gem—truly one in a million to work with! She took all the heavy lifting off my shoulders, which made a huge difference while balancing the demands of teaching. Organizing a trip can be overwhelming, but she made the entire process seamless. This was, without a doubt, the easiest and best-planned trip to DC I’ve experienced—and this was my sixth visit!

Alternative Education Director

ETA makes student travel so easy! They are quick to reply and quick to make those last minute changes. From planning to collecting payments, they are with you every step of the process. I’ve used ETA for over 5 years and it’s the service, attention to detail, and professionalism that keeps us coming back year after year. If you’re planning on traveling with students, do yourself a favor and book with ETA. We worked with the same person, Carrie, each year. She has become a close friend to our teachers. It’s like dealing with family. Carrie is the best!!

Jeff P.

Director of Curriculuum

Our trip to London was an absolute standout, thanks entirely to our incredible guide, Carrie. From the start, her communication skills and attention to detail during the planning phase made the process seamless.

On the ground, she was knowledgeable, agile, and genuinely went above and beyond. A highlight was when she surprised a student and teacher with cupcakes and a birthday crown, a thoughtful touch that made their day. Carrie’s expertise truly made this one of the best trips I’ve ever been on. If you’re looking for a top-tier guide in London or anywhere else, ask for Carrie!

Group Leader

I have been on two trips with ETA, Spain and Italy! Both trips were the absolute best. From the historic streets of Rome to the vibrant culture of Spain, every day was filled with learning and excitement. The shared experiences created an incredible bond among the group. It was the perfect environment for making memories that will last me lifetime. I really enjoyed every city and the activities planned. The hotels and accommodations were also great. My ETA guide Carrie was the best! She is professional, funny, passionate, knowledgeable, and wonderful with the group. She handled everything, making the trip stress free. I could go on and on… If you are looking for an educational, fun, and well organized tour, I cannot recommend Educational Travel Adventures enough!

When I Joined ETA & What I Love About Working Here

I joined ETA in 2011. I love that it’s personal and that people still matter.

Professional Background

I’ve been traveling my whole life. I was 5 days old for my first airplane ride, when my dad had to return a plane, so we flew it to church. Normal things. I come from a traveling family, my aunt has been interviewed by Rick Steve’s about her books on Mexico, my uncle has been leading student tours since before I was born! Both sets of my grandparent’s spent significant time in Asia with missions and the Red Cross. I’m most at home, not at home, (I’m sure there is a psychological problem with that, but it’s true!).

I went to university in Texas, I’ve studied in Spain, worked for IBM in Germany, taught for a spell in the states, and then I’ve been a Tour Manager/Guide/Director for the past 20 years. (aka the invisible bridge, necessary, but customers don’t need to see the details!) I also work in transportation for global events like the Olympics, World Cup, Final Four, etc.

In 2018, I got married and liked being home with him, so I came into the office to build the tours! I’m also still a licensed guide in DC and NY (with a star! Meaning I got most of the questions correct on the test….yes, there is a test.).

Fun Facts About Carrie

Interesting Facts
I’ve been to all 50 states.

Favorite Place Traveled:

Impossible question. South of France is my happy place, I can’t get enough Iceland, Christmas in Germany is a dream, and South America is magical.

Favorite subject to study in school:
Foreign Languages, communication is clutch. One year in school I went from German to French to Spanish to lunch to Spanish again-it was amazing.

Most Recent Passport Stamp:
Mexico. I had to look because they don’t stamp them every time anymore!

Most unexpected moment while traveling:
Spending Groundhog Eve at the home of Punxsutawney Phil’s handler, he was one of the “Inner Circle”, PLUS I got to wear his top hat, and he made us goody bags for our trip to Gobbler’s Knob the next morning.

Window seat or aisle seat?
Aisle. I’d rather be inconvenienced than to inconvenience.

Dream destination (not yet visited):
Everywhere? Churchill, Manitoba to see the polar bears, Botswana to see ALL the animals, and Namibia to see the seals!

Go-to travel snack:
Cheez its and Peanut M&M’s. Why? To quote Joanne…”I don’t make the rules”

One thing I hope students gain from traveling:
That the world is bigger than themselves, and listening matters.
