The 2026 Tony Winners Are In!

Broadway’s biggest night has officially wrapped, and the 2026 Tony Awards gave theatre fans plenty to celebrate. After a season filled with bold revivals, star-powered plays, fresh new musicals, and unforgettable performances, this year’s winners highlight the incredible range of storytelling happening on Broadway right now.

Schmigadoon! took home the award for Best Musical, bringing its joyful love letter to classic musical theatre all the way to Tony gold. With its clever humor, big production numbers, and Golden Age Broadway charm, it’s easy to see why this feel-good show became one of the season’s major winners. The production also earned wins for Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score, both by Cinco Paul.

In the revival categories, Ragtime won Best Revival of a Musical, with Caissie Levy and Joshua Henry taking home leading musical acting honors for their powerful performances. Their wins make this production especially exciting for theatre students studying how classic works can be reimagined for a new generation.

On the play side, Liberation by Bess Wohl won Best Play. In contrast, Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman won Best Revival of a Play and emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners, including a directing win for Joe Mantello and a featured actress win for Laurie Metcalf.

The night also celebrated standout performances from John Lithgow for Giant, Lesley Manville for Oedipus,*Shoshana Bean and Ali Louis Bourzgui for The Lost Boys, and more. For young performers, the Tonys are always a reminder of just how many paths exist in the theatre world, from acting and singing to directing, design, choreography, writing, and beyond.

For student groups, this year’s winners offer plenty of inspiration.
