Fans of Stranger Things will recognize Hawkins in familiar spots, while The Idea of You invites you into a contemporary romance set against the backdrop of Atlanta’s cultural scene.
You’ll take a guided tour of the Fox Theatre that will showcase the must-see details of the Fox and its remarkable history. You’ll see the orchestra pit and Mighty Mo’, the largest working Moller theatre organ in the world. You will also learn the incredible story of how the citizens rose up to save the Fox from the wrecking ball while you walk the very same halls as Elvis, The Rolling Stones and Madonna.
After dinner, you’ll see a performance at the Fox Theatre.
You’ll arrive at your hotel in the Atlanta area and check in.
After breakfast, you’ll board your bus and depart the hotel for the day.
You’ll visit The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, a museum dedicated to the achievements of both the civil rights movement in the United States and the broader worldwide human rights movement. The Center hosts a number of exhibitions, both permanent and temporary, that not only tell the history of the civil rights movement in the United States, but how that period is related to more contemporary human rights struggles around the world.
You’ll have free time in Centennial Olympic Park which not only serves as a legacy of the 1996 Olympic Games, but is the center of a thriving tourist district with neighbors that include the College Football Hall of Fame, the Center for Civil & Human Rights, the World of Coca-Cola, Georgia Aquarium, CNN Center and Imagine It! The Children’s Museum. This downtown Atlanta park is an urban oasis offering an abundance of activities and things to do for visitors, families, convention attendees and locals.
You’ll take a self-guided tour of the Georgia Aquarium. The Georgia Aquarium houses 120,000 animals, representing 500 species, in 8.5 million gallons of marine and fresh water. During your visit, you’ll experience the Educational Dolphin Training Session, the AT&T Dolphin Tales Show and Deepos’s 3D Undersea Wondershow!
You’ll visit the World of Coca-Cola, where you’ll see the fully-functioning bottling line, view more than 1,200 never-before displayed artifacts, share a hug with a 7 foot tall Polar Bear, and more!
After dinner, you’ll return to the hotel.
After breakfast, you’ll board your bus and depart the hotel for the day.
You’ll visit the High Museum of Art. With its renowned collection of classic and contemporary art and award-winning architecture by Richard Meier and Renzo Piano, the High Museum of Art has grown from its origins in a stately home on Peachtree Street to become the leading art museum in the southeastern United States.
You’ll have free time at Ponce City Market.
You’ll take a guided tour of the Atlanta History Center, an interactive experience, where you’ll be given the opportunity to handle historic objects from the collection in addition to touring the award-winning exhibitions, historic houses and gardens.
You’ll take a ride on the Skyview Atlanta Ferris Wheel. This 200 ft. tall Ferris wheel comes equipped with 42 climate-controlled gondolas that each hold up to six people. It is strategically located in Centennial Olympic Park, which provides passengers a unique skyline view of the city.
After dinner, you’ll return to the hotel.
After breakfast, you’ll check out of your hotel rooms and board your bus for the day.
You’ll have free time in Historic downtown Covington, known as a film town, home to locations from “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “In the Heat of the Night” and, most recently, “The Vampire Diaries” and “Sweet Magnolias,” along with 140 other films. The thriving downtown has locally owned boutiques, antique stores and restaurants. Settled in 1822 by European immigrants, many antebellum structures were spared from Sherman’s March to the Sea during the Civil War.
You’ll board your bus and begin the return trip home.
