Daily Itinerary

Barcelona, Girona, Montserrat, and unique cultural experiences

1

You’ll depart on your flight.

2

You will meet your tour manager.

You’ll begin a guided tour of Barcelona. This enchanting seaside city is bursting with culture and sites that will captivate you. During your tour you will stroll through the winding streets of the Gothic Quarter and see its magnificent Cathedral. You’ll experience the vibrant pulse on Las Ramblas and you’ll learn about the famous architect Gaudi and his influence on the city as you visit the various sites and neighborhoods.

You’ll arrive at your hotel and check in and then end the evening with dinner.

3

You’ll explore the Parc Güell which was originally planned as a place to enjoy nature within a housing development. While the development did not happen, the park remains with its hidden sculptures, monuments and fascinating structures throughout.

You’ll visit the Gaudi masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia. Started in 1882, the gothic inspired church is still under construction yet the world heritage site still stands as one of the most unique churches in the world.

You’ll explore the crooked staircases and curved walls of the Casa Mila designed by Antonio Guadi. The highlights include the Pedrera apartments with furniture designed by the architect and the uniquely arched roof.

You’ll have time to walk down Barcelona’s most lively street, Las Ramblas. Filled with street performers and locals, the street is the artistic and cultural heart of the city and ends at the entertainment center, the Barcelona pier where you’ll have time to shop and enjoy views of the Mediterranean.

4

You’ll depart from your hotel aboard a private coach for a day trip to Girona and Figueres.

You’ll visit Girona and explore the network of narrow streets that includes relics from each era including Renaissance churches, medieval baths, and one of the most well preserved Jewish quarters in Spain.

You’ll visit the Dalí Theatre-Museum in the former Municipal Theatre of Figueres. The museum is considered to be the last great work of Salvador Dalí as it was conceptualized and designed by the artist. The museum’s collection is the largest and most diverse in the world taken directly from the artist’s personal collection. You’ll see a broad spectrum of work from early childhood and Dalí’s first artistic experiences, surrealism, nuclear mysticism and his passion for science through the works of the last part of his life.

5

You’ll depart from your hotel on a private coach for your day trip to Montserrat.

This morning you’ll visit Montserrat, a spectacularly beautiful mountain retreat of the Benedictine Monk that offers you some of the most spectacular mountain views of the area. You will learn about the holy grotto where visitations by the Virgin Mary were reported and the world famous Montserrat Choir boys. Not only is Montserrat Monastery of significant religious importance but the natural beauty surrounding the monastery is simply breathtaking. You will take a funicular to the top of the mountain and from there you can choose a number of different walks, all with amazing views of the Catalonian countryside.

6

You’ll visit Castell de Montjuïc, a military fort that has played an important role in Catalan history. The fortress was built to keep a watchful eye over the city, at the top of Montjuïc hill and was occupied by invading armies and used as a prison during the Spanish Civil War. You’ll explore the 17th century building and see incredible views of the city below.

You’ll visit the Joan Miro Foundation which houses private collections of surrealist artists, funds scholarships, contemporary art research, and holds exhibitions of 20th and 21st century contemporary art.

In the afternoon you’ll have free time to explore on your own before dinner.

7

You’ll travel to the airport for your return trip home.
